193.16 Crochkanraa, the hill of the camp.
It is an oval form, and occupies, the level top of a promontory jutting out from the elevated bank above the meadows; The ground is very steep all round, except the neck connecting it with the hill, where a ditch was cut across; it was surrounded by a wall of stones and earth, 12 feet thick; the wall was double at the neck above mentioned, where the entrance had been. This wall is still visible in some places, as shown [Initialled] JB.
FORT (Cnoc an Rath) 193.16 There is another fort on 194-13. likewise called crochkan-raa, Revd. [Reverend] Mr. McBride ascribes both to be Danish, but I could not learn which of the two names given is the proper one.
