216.13 There is no record existing of the time the first Church was built here, but the New Statl. [Statistical] account Says that "it existed for Several hundred years and was rebuilt in 1802." but owing to the foundation having given way, there was a new Church erected on a different Site in 1837. (Information recd. [received] from the Revd. [Reverend] Alexander Marshall, Minister)

[Note] For several hundred years, the parish Church
was Situated at a place called
Kirktown, the only village of note then in the
island, and about one half mile from the
place where the present town of Millport
now stands. Kitktown, however has long
ago entirely disappeared, excepting one
single farm house, which still bears its name." &c.
