026.04 The Parish of Gordon at one time Contained the Residence and part of the possessions of the Noble family of Gordon, who took these names from the place. They are said to have settled here in the Reign of Malcolm Canmore And to have Removed to the North of Scotland About three or four Centuries ago. It is Conjectured, that, at their departure, they transferred some names of places from there old to there new domains. Thus Huntly, a Parish with which they are Connected in the North, was also the Name of a small hamlet which existed [continued on page 26]
