017.02 A County bridge of two arches across the "Whiteadder", And on the road leading from "Chirnside" to "Dunse" There are here a large "Paper Mill" where coarse white paper is extensively Manufactured, Several Neat Cottages with gardens attached, & a Neat Mansion, all of which were erected about 1841 by the proprietor of the Mills, John F. Cranstoun Esq and by whom the Mansion is occupied.
