[South West] course it passes through the adjoining parish of Swinton and forms then part of the Eastern boundary of Eccles parish from here it changes its course to S E [South East] until it empties itself into the river Tweed at Coldstream. The Leit produces excellent trout and also pike, its bed consists chiefly of a clayish ground, contains thin layers of gypsum and exposes on its banks the same marly Sandstone as the Tweed. __ |
