It was attacked by a small party of the English, the besieged ran short of provisions and to divide what little they had equally they took bite about: there are only a small portion of the walls standing, they appear to have been substantial and well built but it appears to be too oblong for one of the 'Peels' as they were generally square buildings - besides there is no mention made of it in any of the Statistical Accounts nor in any of the Border Histories that I have seen |
