026.08 ; 026.12 A small stream rising on the farm of Fans and flowing in a northerly direction until it joins a drain flowing from a peat moss at the north end of the farm and running eastward until it joins the Eden Water. It derives its name from the circumstance of the people living contiguous to here being in the habit of using it for the purpose of immersing & bleaching flax to manufacture linen.

There is a road running through the centre of it upon which happened a tragical event about thirty years ago it seems about seven chains through the wood and at the west end of the wood upon the road, a man named Scot killed two men wilfully, for which he was tried, convicted and executed on the same ground immediately afterwards
