008.09 An extensive marsh it was formerly used as a peatmoss but it became so wet that it has been disused for a number of years. The Revd. [Reverend] J.B. Pratt in his history of Buchan says Moan is a Gaelic word signifying moss, It is the property of the Duke of Richmond.
