016.13 Very little is known about the early history of this Castle. it is supposed to have been built about the fifteenth century and used as a Baronial residence of several families, not connected with history, no portion of the original building now remains, but from a stone built in the wall we learn that it was rebuilt and roofed by Thomas Donaldson and Elizabeth Duff in 1725. this part of the building is loopholed for musketry. its postion is naturally strong, but it is not known to have been strengthened by outworKs or in any other way.
