An extensive Deer Forest. It is bounded on the south and east principally by the Co. [County] of Aberdeen, on the north-west by the Cos. [Counties] of Elgin and Inverness and on the north by Craig Mean, Liathe Bheinn, Carn a Sliebh, Coire Riabhach and the Caplich Burn. It is the property of Hiis Grace the Duke of Richmond.
"The forest of Glenavon contains from 60.000 to 70.000 imperial acres, and has been lately set off by the Duke of Richmond, the proprietor, as a deer forest."
New Statistical Account
A portion of this forest, near to the Shooting lodge of Inchrory, extends into Aberdeenshire, the property and Co. [County] boundary at this place not being co-extensive.
