023.15 The site of a very ancient Church said to have been the first in the parish which was erected into A separate jurisdiction from Abernethy and was the seat of the Chancellor of the Diocese. I cannot find any information of its date, but it is considered to be of a very early one, there are no traces left of it now. A sculptured stone, disinterred in the present parish Grave Yard marKs its site; It was taken from under the walls of the Old Church about four feet under ground and placed on the surface, so that both these antiquities occupy the same place near the centre of the burial ground; there are some raised figures on this stone, the Appearance of which are so very indefinite, that an explanation cannot be given.
"The stone at Inveravon lies in the churchyard of the parish, and is said to have been found under the foundation of the old church. This parish was dedicated to St Peter."
