009.01 | The water from this well has been taKen away by a drain and no trace of the well now remains, with the exception of a hollow space in the old wall, which wall has been in connection with the tower, - the wall has been before described as a "remaining portion of a breast-work wall." The New Statistical Account in speaking of the church says that - "near it is St John's Well, the spring or Stream supplying which issues almost as it were from beneath the church." St John's and young St John's, two large trees mentioned in the Statistical Account, have been destroyed. |
