003.13 | This name applies to the dwelling houses. and a carding mill and was used in 1752 as a "Bleach Field", the property of the Earl of Seafield. The Gazetteer of Scotland States that - "In 1752, the then Lord Deskford - afterwards Earl of Findlator and Seafield - established a bleachfield in the north end of the parish, where about 1500 pieces of cloth and 1700 Spindles of thread-yarn were annually whitened; but a number of years ago this establishment dwindled to extinction". |
