003.05 | The principal mansion & residence of the Earl of Seafield, it is an ancient structure, the original portions of the building dating as far back as the beginning of the 15th Century. Near to the present house the foundation of a building is shewn said to be remains of the house in which Queen Elizabeth, consort of King Robert Bruce died, but respecting which no authentic information Can be obtained. there is Strong reason to beleive that the above remains are part of a large Ecclesiastic Institution viz a Collegiate Church which occupied the whole of the space on which Cullen House now stands. there are numerous Charters referring to Prebends. Canon's and other Church dignataries in connection with this Collegiate Church which proves that it had been a very important establishment "Cullen House, the principal residence of the Earl of Seafield, is situated in the parish of Cullen proper, at the distance of six furlongs from the town.
