003.05 A royal and Parliamentary borough situated near the sea coast, it is regularly built, and divided into good street and lanes, containing A free church, congregational chapel, a number of schools, public houses, Town Hall. Post Office. Two branch Banks & Police Station. The buildings are neat and substantial of Modern erection and generally the property of the Occupiers. It is supplied with gas, also a plentiful supply of excellen water. The turnpike road between Banff & Elgin intersects the Town. The Earl of Seafield is Superior.
"Cullen is a royal burgh of considerable antiquity, as appears from a charter of James 1, 6th March 1455, ratifying another of Robert 1, by which were granted to the burgh, the usual liberties, privileges and advantages.
