035 The occupier of the house called chapel an intelligent old woman the only Representation of a family who have been resident in chapel for 5 or 600 years pointed out the Site of Popish chapel She States that her father and Grandfather told her the place marked on trace was the Centre of building and further the old Lady states that the Burial ground surrounded the chapel this is attested by the other Authorities.
There is a stone Curiously Carved in the dwellinghouse which belonged to the place of worship and is the only thing worthy of notice about Janet McCrones evidence. -

"Before the Reformation, there was a chapel on
"the lands of Borland, in this parish, the vestiges
"whereof are still extant, and the farm on which
"it stood, bears the name of Chapel House"
Chalmers' Caledonia p. [page] 522. v. [volume] 3.

"Not very far from this Castle (Borland) the
vestiges of a small Popish Chapel are still extant.
The small farm on which it stands, is called
Chapel House; and has been occupied by this
same family as tenants, in regular succession,
for several hundred of years.
