A well known Stream which rises from Surface water in the east base of Benwhat Parish in Dalmellington. It has a winding Course of about 10 miles in a mostly westerly direction, falling into the River Ayr adjacent to Sundrum about 4 miles from Ayr. It forms the boundary between the parishes of Coylton and Ochiltree, and Coylton and Stair. Its Course is, for the most part, through agricultural and on a gravelly bed. Its banks in places are precipitous and in general well wooded. |

A middling, diked & rapid stream which takes its use from several small streams in the farms of Bardarroch & Whitehill & falls into the Water of Coil, a little to the West of Land farm (steading). The name extends no farther than its junction with another burn, about 15 chains North of Whitehill. For a small portion of its course it divides the Parishes of Ochiltree & Stair (detached). Bed for most part gravelly. |
