038 | A Small natural Cove immediately below Dunure Castle. It is Noticed by Grose in his antiquities and Supposed by him to have been a Sally-port Connected with the Castle. It was nearly filled up with debris from the rock and built in [1100] when Grose wrote and is Scarcely discernible now. Brownie is the name given to one of the Several classes of fairies in Scottish superstition. |
