044 Consists of two Kinds of freestone South of the road white and North of the road red both kinds are Considered very good for building purposes. Most of the public buildings and many other houses in Maybole are built of Stone taken from this quarry From the Surface to the layer of Stone is about ten feet thick & consists of gravelly Clay the layer of Stone itself is about 8 feet in thickness. It has not been worked regularly for some time past. That on the [low] side of the road is the property of Sir James Fergusson the other G. M. Torrance Esqr.

044 A row of dwelling houses forming the western extremity of Maybole extending from the west end of Whitehall to the junction of Mason's Row & Weaver Vennel. With one or two exceptions the houses are one storey nearly all slated & in good repair occupied by weavers.
