039 An elegant Mansion romantically Situated on the Banks of the Doon, the Property of the Marquis of Ailsa, an excellent Addition has been made to the Old building during the Present Century, built in the Gothic Style, the block of the Original building was quadrangular, and the building itself Called Cassillis Castle, but Since it has been modernised by the addition of the new building, the name has been Changed to Cassillis House; the building in its present shape forms three Sides of a Square, several turrets Occur here and there throughout the Old Building, which may be Seen peering Over the Other Portion, and render it very Picturesque when viewed from a distance.- the entrance to the Kitchen Court is at the South West Side of the building, and immediately at the entrance and near the Gate, may be Seen the "Dule Tree", on which Johnny Faa and his Companions are Said to have Paid the Penalty of their temerity with their lives; - The Out-Offices at Some distance from the Mansion are Plain buildings; the Principal
