This name applies to a small knoll or hill, or the vestiges of such, for it appears at one time to have been higher - in the corner of a small field near the dwelling house of Aiket Mill, The tradition respecting it, which I have heard from Mr. Calderwood, proprietor of the Castle, and an old man about 80 years of age, & Messrs Cochrane of Loanhead and Gilmour of Braehead, is:- that in former times when the proprietor of the Castle resided there, he was in the habit of appointing a person to meet his "Feuars" on the "Court Hill", to receive payment of their feus etc. etc. |
