CRAIGNAUGHT HILL | Craignaught Hill Craignaught Hill Craignaught Hill |
Alexander Cochrane Esqr. Mr. Thomas Cochrane Mr. David Bicket |
009 | An eminence of considerable [elevation] situated about 2 1/2 miles North by east from the village of Dunlop. It rises gradually from the south west but is very precipitous on the South East and East sides. In Patersons Hist. [History] of Ayr mention is made of a battle having taken place between the families of Stewart & Boyd at this Hill. Any information that I have obtained seems to place the scene of the conflict a little further north in Boyds Slack. |
