039 A fresh water loch - about a mile & a half in length & averaging about ten chains in breadth, & for the most part its margin is well studded with wood.

039 The ruins of an old Castle, built on an island near the Center of Martinham Loch. The entrance to it has been from the South side of the Loch, formed by an embankment from the land to the island. The walls are about from four to ten feet high, & to judge from their appearance it must be very old. although no information can be obtained when it was erected.
