A single line of Railway extending from the town of Dalmellington to its junction with the Ayr & Maybole Junction railway. From this point to Ayr the line is a double rail. The name of the Railway leading to Maybole is Ayr & Maybole Junction.

039 A well known Stream which issues from Loch Doon and falls into the Sea about two miles South of Ayr. The first two miles of its Course is through a wild glen - Craigs of Ness - from which it passes into and out of Loch Bogton. For six miles further it separates the Phs [Parishes] of Straiton and Dalmellington. In the remainder of its course - through a finely wooded landscape it separated the Phs [Parishes] of Kirkmichael & Dalrymple from Maybole & Ayr.
