011 | A very Small Knowe Situated in a field near Linn Toll, wherein as John Muir Related to me, he saw 7 Stone Coffins and an Urn - all Containing burnt bones - excavated out of this hill. about 80 years ago. Muir is of the opinion that the person who found these Coffins also found some treasure - as it was noticed that he ever afterwards lived comfortably and altho [although] he was previously a working man, never laboured after this. The hill appears to be natural but at the time the remains were found - Muir states there was a mound of earth, not large, which has since been levelled by the plough. These are the only remains which have been found in the neighbourhood for a period of 100 years, as I have been informed by the best authority |
