027 | The remains of Barnweill Church Situated on the north Side of Barnweill Hill. The gables are pretty entire and Covered with ivy, but the Side walls are nearly level with the ground. Surrounding it is the graveyard in which are Some very, apparently old tombstones. It is not exactly Known at what time it was built, but Supposed to have been about the beginning of the fifteenth century. The bell was taken down in the spring of 1857 and presented by the proprietor to the Scottish Episcopalian Chapel in Ayr. |
