034 A square loose block of trap rock about 5 feet square at its base, & the same in height resting on a flat rock. In Wyllie's Ayrshire Streams it is noted as "a stone of considerable Size & peculiar shape, occupies a prominent portion on the craigs. It is explained in an old legind, still current over the county side, that an ancient Pecht (Pictish) wife one on a time was engaged removing stones to a building in the course of erection at Sundrum. Having procured one of extraordinary dimensions, she was wending her way across the Craigs when her apronstrings Gave way & the rock was deposited on the hill top ** This interesting object would appear in reality to have been one of those rocKing stones at one period so numerous in the west Country; unfortunately it is now removed from the poise"
