067 This is a small village containing [about] 200 inhabitants, on the road from Girvan to [Newton] Stewart, twelve miles from the former and eight from the latter. The population is chiefly [agricultural]. The houses are well built, from one to two storey[s] high, generally slated and in good repair. It is the joint property of the trustees of the late Sir William Fettes Bart. [Baronet] and Rigby Mason Corwar Ho. [House] Within the village there are an extensive schoolhouse and a [Commodious] Inn; but the most noticeable object the newly built Free Church for the erection of which that [we are] indebted to the liberality and energy of Rigby Mason Esqr. Corwar ho [house]
