012 An extensive Peat Moss through which the Boundary between the Parishes of Beith and Kilwinning runs it belongs to different Proprietors, their boundary through it is undefined but it runs straight from where each property joins the moss to a pole in the centre, the Tenants on each property are allowed to get Peats for their own use free - There is considerable doubt about the Orthography of this name, I applied to numerous persons, none of whom ever saw it written or in Print. It is well known and always pronounced as I have given it- M. K.
