A large and rapid river which takes its Rise in a mountainous district in the E.[East] of Ayrshire, and after a course of about thirty miles empties itself into the Sea at the village of Ballantrae. The Muck and Tig are the largest of its tributaries . Salmon & trout are to be found in it, but not plentiful
