On its summit are the distinct remains of a circular fort about 40 feet in diameter the wall being composed of large stones placed in outer & inner circle, and filled up with stones and earth between, an outer work exists (of a square form) on the east side, but has not been near of the same strength. The fort is known to a few by the name of "Caisteal O'Dowd" supposed to have been occupied by a party of that name.
