STONE CIST FOUND 252.09 On this farm about ½ mile westward is what appears to be the remains of an ancient cairn, out of which Mr. Macintosh says a number of Stone Cists were found (See Trace 2 ), also on Trace 6 a few years ago Mr. Macintyre the Farmer found a Stone cist whilst cultivating a portion of ground close upon the top of a bank near Glenlussa River. "On the farm of Kildeddan 70 or 80 years ago, a great many stone coffins were found with Urns in them, and in many other places throughout the country similar coffins have been discovered." McIntosh's History

*. I observed that this has a circular wall just above ground - and circular hole in one of the stones 10" x 6" x 8" deep. Also small circular enclosure close by 4' x 4', perhaps a turret - (different hand and colour of ink) It cannot be a cairn therefore, but is similar to the "Duns" in hill-forts. R.W.
