It consists of three or four rows of houses most of which are two storeys high and in fair condition; an inn, post office, two Churches, a school and about half a dozen of small shops. There is also a pier at the village and another on the opposite shore belonging to Valentine Smith Esq. The West-Coast Steamers call at the pier when passing to & from Glasgow.
