Various | Kilninian and Kilmore an united parish in the presbytery of Mull and Synod of Argyll. Patron the Duke of Argyll. Kilninian is the southern part of the united parish and Kilmore the northern, They were united after the Reformation. It contains the town of Tobermory and the post office stations of Aros and Ulva. It comprehends the Islands of Ulva, Gometra, Little Colonsay, Staffa and Treshnish and all the northern peninsula of Mull, or the part of that island lying north of Loch na Keal. The length of the Mull part from east to west is 13 miles and the breadth is 12 miles. It is bounded on the south by the parish of Torosay. Its general appearance is hilly. The arable land generally lies near the shore and is tolerably fertile. The hills are extensively covered with heath yet contain a large aggregate of good pasture. There are good harbours at Tobermory & Aros. There are two parish Churches - one at Kilninian |
