It is supposed that its origin and purposes has been in connection with Cill Cairine, and that it belongs to the same period as that object. |

146 | A spring well, situated on the E. [East] side of Kiloran Bay, a short distance S.W. [South West] from the foot of Beinn Bheag. It is lined with masonary & covered by a large stone slab. According to the tradition of the locality this well was opened and used by St. [Saint] Columba, who, it is said imparted healing virtues to it's water. The natives, while visiting it, are in the habit of leaving small articles, such as pins, buttons, small coins etc, in the form of offerings to the Saint. |
