190 A bold and rocky point situated at the southern extremity of the Ph. [Parish] of "So. [South] Knapdale", it takes a circuit of coast fully two miles in extent. The coast itself is rugged though in several places small ports may be observed, some of them named, which are used by the Kilmory and other fishermen as places of safety for the anchorage of the boats. Detached from the the land may be observed several small rocky islets. The first of these we shall consider is "Carraig na h-Acairseid", or the "Rock of the port, or harbout", from a small narrow inlet round by its south-east point. Next being the largest of a rocky group is "Sgeir Mhic Ghugain", named from a fisherman of the name of Gugain or Gugan who lived in the neighbourhood at one period.
