179 | The ruins of this Chapel are to be Seen Standing at the Southern extremity of "Ross". The walls are in a good state of preservation & much alike to that of Kilmory. The burying ground surrounds it, & is bounded by a good stone wall. In the interior of the ruin are some very ancient grave stones one in particular bearing the date of 1022. "At Keills, near the S.W. [South West] extremity of the Ph. [Parish] stands the ruins of the Chapel of St. Carmaig. The walls are 40 ft. in length by 20 ft. in breadth & 12 ft. in height". New Stat [Statistical] Account. "The Church at Keills & another at Kilmory are exactly of the same size each 42 ft. by 18 & beside each is a cross of some antiquity, bearing the name of St Charmaig (Corinac) by whom both are said to have been originally built".
