122 Is situated on the east side of the Sound of Seil about two miles south of Clachan Br: [Bridge] The old castle, the eastern building, still stands but a new one in course of erection close beside it. It is the property of the Earl of Breadalbane.
"Ardmaddy Castle is one of the seats of the Marquis of Breadalbane where the family have been in the habit of residing some weeks during the summer season for the last few years. It is situated on the mainland at the head of a fine bay and commands an extensive prospect of sea & land. The castle which is a very old building stands on an eminence of a conical shape which has the appearance of an artificial mound.
