Stiffened Island.
077 A Small island near the Centre of "Loch Tulla", on which are a few trees: Tradition hands down this island to be artificial, & to have been used as a place of safe retreat. The Tl. [Traditional] account is that a raft of trees was constructed & dragged to the proposed site of the islet, where it was sunk with a mass of stones - to which fresh accession were made - until a stony isle emerged on the lake. It is said that on a clear day when the waters of the Loch are low, people are able to observe the ends of the raft a few feet below the surface of the water.
