198 | The remains of Stone Cross consisting of the pedestal or column, which supported the Crown. It is standing upright about 4 chains N.N.W. [North North West] from School in the village of Kiels, and is about 6 feet in height by about 9 inches square. The portion broken off is said to have been built in the dyke immediately N.E. [North East] of the remains. The stone does not appear to have been dressed or ornamented in any way. No particular period is assigned for this object, but it is believed to be of great antiquity. It is supposed to have originally been in Connection with Cill Choluim Chille, which is situated a short distance to the South West. |
