030 | Three small mounds of earth and Stones, principally the latter situate in field immediately in front of West Laroch, and said to be places of sepulchral. The eastern one was in process of being removed when a Stone Coffin was discovered. The proprietor on learning this, stayed proceedings; and erected a stone wall round the spot. A slab in the centre bears the following inscription. In April 1834 A cairn which Stood on this spot was Removed Stone Coffins within the enclosure were found underneath and have been left undisturbed Neither Bones, Ashes nor any remains of Antiquity were discovered To preserve the Sanctity of the place the surrounding wall was erected by Charles Stewart Esqr. Ballachelish |
