098 The remains of this ancient Castle or Fortress are Situated a few chains west of "Dunollie". On the north West Corner of a rocky precipice. The wall are built of stone and lime and are of great thickness. A wall or outer enclosure runs South & west from the Keep. forming a square. On the west side of the enclosure traces of buildings are still visiable: on the north side of the Castle the remains of Earth works can still be traced.

"On a precipitous & almost insulated promontory on the West
Coast stand the remains of the Castle of Dunolly, con-
-sisting chiefly of the donjon or Keep. It is supposed
to be the same as Dunolla built in 714 by Selbac or
Selvac King of the Dalriads" Origines Parochiales.
