SCULPTURED STONE [Killmaluag] | Standing Stone | John McMurchy Duncan McMillan Glenbarr John McDonald, Blary, Glenbarr |
241 | A small slab of standing stone situated immediately to the east of Killmaluag, about 3 feet high, by 18 inches broad. An emblem of a short sword is embossed on the east side, pointing towards the earth. There is no tradition regarding it except that, it is considered to have been a grave-stone. Evidently removed from the neighbouring burial-ground of Kil-maluag called 'Ach-nan-Cladh' (See next page ) - the device I take to be a cross rather than a sword. [Initialled] T.P.W |
