193 A stone cist stands here untoched by the plough, beside it another was dug up recently containing an urn and a small copper hammer, with an iron shank or handle, the hammer was similar to a modern smiths hammer, but small, another cist was discovered a little north of this but containing neither bones nor urn
STANDING STONES [Kames] 193 There are three standing stones a little to the N.W. [North West] of this, one about 30 feet south of the cross road, standing in the ploughed field, two others a little north of this one, standing in the hedge on the road side, they are large flag like stones, about four or five feet high above the surface, their tradition seems lost, but it is conjectured they are monumental, probably from the fact of the stone cists already described, and several others found in and about Tighnabruach, Mr. Johnston, Kames Farm, seen the hammer, from him I got the description
