061 | The Statistical account of 1843 says, with reference to this Antiquity, "At Fechly, is a Mound upwards of 60 feet high and surrounded by a fosse, partly natural, partly artificial, breadth from 12 to 41 feet, and depth from 8 to 35 feet, the breadth of the Mound on the summit is 127 feet by 200 feet on which are the remains of a vitrified tower." A present owing to the cultivation of the ground and even of the Mound itself this description scarcely answers. No local information Can be had respecting it. When examines it was under corn. |
