023 | "The Free Church and the Roman Catholic Chapel, both in St. Peter Street are modern buildings, the former, a large, commodious and substantial edifice in what might probably be denominated "a Carpenter Specimen of Tudor Gothic," vide Pratt's Buchan page 60. This building was erected in 1842 and opened for divine worship in 1843. It has a large gallery supported by metal pillars and will accommodate about 1114 hearers. The Revd. [Reverend] James Yuill is the present minister. There is a good Seminary or School connected with this Church, but no Manse. |
