023 Applies to a river formed by two streams called the North & South Ugie; the North Ugie rising in the parish of Strichen and the South Ugie in the parish of New Deer and after flowing a considerable distance they join together a little below the village of Longside - the river flows in an easterly direction for about 17 Miles and falls into the German Ocean about the Mile North from the town of Peterhead; there is a great many valuable pearls in this river and great quantities of Salmon, trout, finnocks & flounders are also caught near the mouth of the River
