Mr John Rule Forester Midmar Castle Mr W. L. Henry builder Echt Estate pan [plan] 1844 |
073 | This is the remains of what was once the parish Church of Midmar, the walls and gables are still standing entire wanting nothing but the roof, it appears to have been a very plain building with a large unornamental window in the east gable. the interior is now divided into family vaults, it had two doors and on the lintel of one of them is cut in old fashioned figures the date 1677 but it would appear that it is older than this for on some old headstones adjacent in the yard are dates as far back as 1564, The enclosure all round is still used as the parish burying ground |
