[East North East] of old Semeil and is under plantation which bears the name of the hill East of the parish boundary stream &c, and south of the old county Road, the same name is also known sometimes for all the plantation north, downwards to the Water of Deskry. The latter portion or Wood N. [North] of the old County road is frequently known also by the name of Semeil Wood probably after the name of the Hamlet called Old Semeil ord, oird, Greek & Gaelic for mountain 'Tordan a mountain that is not very big. Cûl back of a place or thing. Cul-tordan The Back mountain &c, &c. One of the most conspicuous land marks of the Morray Frith is said to be the Ord of Caithness |
