SCULPTURED STONE FOUND HERE [Newbigging] Sculptured Stone
(found here)
Mr James Thomson Newbigging 1859-60 044 A small sculptured stone found a few years since on the farm of Newbigging by the present tenant. Mr James Thomson. The stone is of the kind locally known as "Bennachie Stone" and when found was in a sloping position having the sculptured face facing Bennachie. The ground where it was found was originally marshy and it is conjecture that, though originally on the surface, the stone had been gradually covered by the sediment left by the water. Nothing else is known respecting it. It now lies in Newbigging farmsteading.
